Blame Your Parents

The first relationship we encounter lays the foundation for our mental health and the health of our future relationships.

The first relationship we experience is with our parents. They are the cause of your either high or low level of self-worth. They are responsible for how you behave in platonic and intimate relationships. They are the cause of your anxiety, depression, and consistent critical self-talk.

For all of us, yes, every human alive, our parents (or any other caretaker) couldn’t meet our every need. Some tried as hard as they could. Others, not so much.

They couldn’t give us the approval and compassion we needed when we were children and you can’t expect them to give it to you now.

This is a blessing, not a curse, because you have the power. You’re not dependent on anyone else but yourself.

Anger, hate, or seeking their approval won’t help you move forward and heal.

Realize your mom and dad had unresolved trauma that affected their caretaking skills.

Have forgiveness and compassion for them. But more importantly, have it for yourself.

The Inside & Out email list will help you achieve your internal and external goals.
